TR4 Brochure

A brochure for the “New TR4″ that I found on-line. Given that it is being hailed as “new”, I would guess this is from 1961.

My Goal

I found a picture of what the car should look like when it is all done. Yes, I have a long way to go, but this is the goal! Of course there may be differences in a few places such as interior color, antenna and the like, but you get the impression. I need to get an original build report so I can see what colors the car had when it originally came out of the factory. I simply cannot wait to drive such a beauty on under the trees on a fine fall day.

Models and Toys

OK, so the past few posts have been about advertisements. Well this one is about toys.  Pictured below you will see just two examples. The first is a very small model of the TR4 by Wiking. Compare it in size to the penny! These are really for putting on model train layouts of either HO or OO scale.

Next you will see a very nice Revell model of the TR4.  Obviously these aren’t popular these days, but what a nice kit. And, being a model. you can make it up to look just like your own car.

Finally, while we are talking toys, if you haven’t seen it already, you really need to check out Model Collector Magazine. This great monthly from the UK features all the best of your favorite model cars. As they say, “Every month Model Collector is packed with news, reviews, special reports, features, interviews, and details of forthcoming dates for your diary, as well as exclusive reader offers and fantastic competitions. Reader participation is actively encouraged: the Model Collector Roadshow goes out and about focusing on, and valuing, reader collections; the Letters section is always full of lively debate and some fascinating queries arise in Question Time, where our panel of experts solve readers’ model mysteries.” They even have a YouTube channel, so you owe it to yourself to take a look.

Accessory Advertisements

For a change of pace, I thought I would show a couple of ads that are related to the TR4, but not directly for the car.  These two ads are for accessories from the period. Sometimes find add-ons such as these can be harder than finding correct original parts. So, always be on the lookout!

More Ads From The ’60s

I enjoy these, so I will keep posting them as I find them. Just a few more ads to show how the TR4 was put forward by Triumph in the 1960s.  Always interesting to try to glimpse a contemporary view of the cars instead of a view shaded by history and nostalgia.
