Will wonders never cease? There are actually some bargains still to be had on eBay. I was browsing TR4 material the other day and came across this Bentley workshop manual for the TR4 & TR4A for only $10 plus $3 shipping. You know I had to jump on that. Even if the condition turned out to be horrible the price would be worth it to have out in the shop. Turns out that, although ex-library as quoted, it is in excellent condition. I love the fact that this copy is old enough that it doesn’t even have an ISBN number. And the original $25 price printed on it was covered with a $35 sticker.

So, keep heart and no that if you watch long enough, you can find a deal now and then. But please, just don’t bid against me. OK?

Found this brilliant video of a TR4 being taken around the famous Nürburgring in Germany. It even mixes it up a bit with an unknown prototype race car.

For some reason, maybe it is just the pack-rat in me, I love to accumulate press releases and such from the time my cars were released. This is especially true with a car like the TR4 which was made before I was born. This ephemera helps me understand a little of the way these machines were thought of when they were produced. Of course now we think of them as quaint, and vintage, and we attach all sorts of nostalgia to them. But for my picture to be complete, I want to know what the companies and the buying public thought of these autos when the first rolled off the line.

To that end you will see here pictured two press-release photos and one post card. At least that postcard helps me get at least some idea what my white car would look like with period white-wall tires.

Found this magazine, and I hope to post more of the it soon. This is from 1961 original introduction of the TR4. And I will tell you, all of the articles and ads in the magazine are absolutely amazing. A true time capsule.

Here are some more ads for the TR4 from the early ’60s. I have to admit that I really like these. It would be great to have either the real thing or at least very good scans of them to hang up in the garage over the car. The Group 44 one is most interesting to me since I saw the reunion of the Group 44 cars at Road Atlanta during The Mitty this past May.
